Attempts to exert undue #influence on #witnesses have been a repeated theme of #Trump investigations & #criminal cases over the yrs.
Trump’s fmr campaign mgr & fmr campaign adviser were #convicted on #WitnessTampering charges in 2018 & 19. The adviser told a witness to “do a ‘Frank Pentangeli’”–a character in “The Godfather Part II” who lies to a Senate cmte investigating #OrganizedCrime. Trump later #pardoned both men….(He didn’t pardon a co-defendant of the campaign manager who had cooperated)

#GeorgiaLongstreet is reading a series of #tweets from #Trump, many of them attacks on #MichaelCohen. She just read a post in which Trump unfavorably compared Cohen — who made the #HushMoney payment to #StormyDaniels & is expected to testify starting Monday — to #PaulManafort, who pleaded #guilty to #crimes & was sentenced to 7 years in #prison but was #pardoned by Trump while he was still in office.

The judge rejected his entreaties…, ordering #Manafort to remain behind bars for >7 yrs. <2 yrs later, however, Manafort’s #criminal record was wiped clean when #Trump #pardoned him among the dozens of allies, extended family members & fmr campaign staffers allowed to walk free.
W/his freedom, Manafort hardly retired to a quiet home life. Instead, the longtime #power broker —briefly brought low by the investigation into #Russian #ElectionInterference— reengaged in international consulting.
