First day back after our offsite company week at Nextcloud!

It was great to meet our amazing team again in person! We had a lot of discussions, work and of course fun.

The Sales Engineering team took the chance and organized a spontaneous Workflow session where we had fun using Nextcloud Flow. 😎

Thanks everyone for such a great week. This weeks always reminds me what awesome people we have at Nextcloud! 🚀

@fancypants @cjwr1ght just be aware that #owncloud is the original (but now laggard & corporate) fork of #NextCloud (the lead dev forked his own code when the company he'd started 'got away from him' & started proprietrising things in ways he didn't agree with), and it's just a shadow of NC. It's like LibreOffice is to OpenOffice (after the community forked it). The corporatised fork withers and fades into obscurity because without the community, they're nothing special.

I think Nextcloud might be the next app I deploy since I can cover a few use cases with it on my quest to self-host-all-the-things. By default, it will do files, and you can add apps for photos, calendar/tasks (via CalDAV), contacts, and even cooking recipes.

Setting up CalDAV is easy enough on MacOS so I already got that working with Calendar and Reminders. Surely that will be just as easy on my phone.

I only had to change a few variables in the helm chart to get it to deploy a basic instance. Added an ingress so Kubernetes can get to the service, and it was up and running.

And because home lab projects always multiply, my next step will be to figure out the best way to map storage to Nextcloud, setup an external database for it, start to manage credentials in a better way, and figure out remote access.

Viele schon seit etlichen Jahren. Möglichst nachhaltig und Open Source.

@madsee34583 @delta I agree, it would be great to have another solution which removes that extra step ... are there any technical solutions to that? It does have a very different feel joining a "room" vs calling someone directly. I have the same issue with #nextcloud talk, for this reason.

Would there be anyway to integrate xmpp for this, and possibly a community server and have it as a default built into the application?
