"The hospitals most at risk of closure because of the bill’s [Trump's big beautiful bill] massive cuts to federal spending on Medicaid and Medicare are located in communities that are mostly white and poorer on average than the rest of the nation."

TPM - Talking Points Memo · These Are the Communities Most Likely to be Hurt By Hospital Closures and Medicaid CutsBy Layla A. Jones

[Weiss hospital, a block away from me, will probably close soon. It's not the best hospital but it serves primarily low income patients and needed.]

Chicago's Weiss Memorial Hospital will soon lose it's Medicare funding, which could lead to the hospital closing.

Then (in an era of science-based medicine): "Maintaining and improving health as a senior is a complex but important problem."

Now (in RFK Jr's/Dr. Oz's Medicare): *"Walk it off!"*

This was written in reaction to an email sent on July 25, 2025 from medicare.gov featuring "Dr." Oz's smirking mug extolling the health virtues of doing just 30 minutes of walking a day.

Get ready for Social Security cuts: If you’re on Social Security and Medicare, get ready: Republicans just screwed you in a huge way with their Big Ugly Bill, and starting in a mere 7 years you’ll see an average $18,000/year cut in Social Security for the average married, retired couple and an 11% reduction in Medicare payments to providers.

Prior auth is coming to traditional #Medicare under CMS's new WISeR model. Contracting companies will be paid a cut of the "savings" from care they deny. Only ~3% of spending is from overuse — but denying care is how they profit.

STAT · Plans to test prior authorization in traditional Medicare are deeply troublingPreauthorization is about to enter the lives of many seniors who have chosen traditional Medicare over MA, write former CMS Administrator Don Berwick and health policy expert Andrea Ducas.

Absolutely! And schools should be fully funded so teachers don't have to buy supplies out of pockets; so they are paid enough to live comfortably in the town where they teach. In fact, there shouldn't be billionaires! And college should be free. UBI & Free healthcare for all.

In reality what we will get this coming school year:

*Millions of kids who are hungry because their families have been thrown off SNAP and their schools have ended free food programs

*Millions with significant absenteeism due to untreated pain and illness because they’ve been thrown off Medicare

*Millions who are too afraid to come to school at all for fear that they, or their family members, will be picked off by ICE Gestapo

*A bunch of pathetic professional development meetings explaining to teachers how parents can now, thanks to SCOTUS, choose to remove their child from any curriculum they claim goes against their beliefs, including Evolution, anything the Zionists don’t like, anything that suggest that sex and gender are not binary, any history that makes fragile white egos feel “uncomfortable,” and force us teachers to provide alternative curriculum for them, and alternative assessments that leaves out these “uncomfortable” topics

Medicaid Cuts? Yes. But the #GOP Is Quietly Cutting Medicare, Too

A little understood aspect of the big, ugly bill could cause devastating problems for seniors and others.

PAYGO is not a term that crosses many lips in daily discourse. But it may soon be used more widely, as its impact resonates in the aftermath of the passage of the so-called One Big Beautiful Act. While the enormous and damaging cuts in #Medicaid have dominated discussion since the bill was enacted—cuts that will take millions of Americans off of #HealthInsurance, force the closure of many rural hospitals and nursing homes, and likely put enormous increased pressure on emergency rooms across the country—another shoe is soon to drop. And that is major cuts in its sister program, #Medicare.

@Jason844 I don't think people understand the sheer amount of data that is shared with #Medicare and #Medicaid when they see a healthcare professional and a claim is filed for payment.

It's not just medical related but social, personal opinion, etc. The more data points they include with what is called ICD codes, International Classification of Diseases codes, the better a claim is likely to be approved for payment and some even get more money for more ICD codes.

Now, they use code Z, or Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) codes.

It covers a lot of things that might affect health, from housing situations, literacy, Parental overprotection, Conviction in civil and criminal proceedings, religious worship, POLITICAL views, Sibling rivalry, relationships, etc.

It is all included in the billing claim submitted and many providers have dropdown or check marks with nothing else to add, to include it to the forms. It's why providers spend so much time on their laptop while you sit in your paper gown awkwardly.

"Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the nonmedical factors that influence health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, worship, and age. These conditions include a wide set of forces and systems that shape daily life such as economic policies and systems, development agendas, social norms, social policies, and political systems."

#Trump is an old man, and he has old-man health problems. Normally, I would sympathize with anyone in his situation and hope they get the care they need. But this is a man who gleefully took away healthcare from tens of millions of people with the stroke of a pen to line the pockets of his cronies, so for this guy in particular, I hope he gets what he gives.
