Conversation with a person not into bikes:
Them: “Wait, why would you buy a bike and then change everything on it?”
Me: “Everyone always changes things on a new bike! Have you heard of the Ship of Theseus?”
Them: “No.”
Me: [after explaining the Ship of Theseus] “That could never happen to a bike, because if you change the frame, it’s not the same bike.”
Right?
@jemal Idk, I have bought a frame and moved all the parts of my daily driver onto it, more than once. In fact, I've done it enough times that "my bike" has become a rather formless concept to me.
